{ ي?أَيُّهَا ?لَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِنَّ كَثِيراً مِّنَ ?لأَحْبَارِ وَ?لرُّهْبَانِ لَيَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ ?لنَّاسِ بِ?لْبَاطِلِ

وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ?للَّهِ وَ?لَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ ?لذَّهَبَ وَ?لْفِضَّةَ وَلاَ يُنفِقُونَهَا فِي سَبِيلِ ?للَّهِ

فَبَشِّرْهُمْ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ }

Repentance

O ye who believe! Lo! many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks

devour the wealth of mankind wantonly and debar (men) from the way of

Allah. They who hoard up gold and silver and spend it not in the way of

Allah, unto them give tidings (O Muhammad) of a painful doom,

What was the reason of revelation of this holy verse?!

{يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءامَنُوا إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِنَ الأَحْبَارِ وَالرُّهْبَانِ}
This verse refers to believers to tell them that many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks
are
{لَيَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ}
which means that they devour the wealth of mankind wantonly and debar to revert to Islam.
Ibn Kathir said about this verse that it is to warn people from those kind of scholars.

{وَالَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ}
This verse means that those who hoard up gold and silver
&
{وَلا يُنفِقُونَهَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ}
And they don't spend it in the way of Allah which means like Zakat , charity.
{فَبَشِّرْهُمْ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ}
This verse means tidings of a painful doom, a painful end.

There are many scholars who have their point of view toward this verse and
They proclaim that the reason of revelation is because to warn those who hoard up their money
and those who don't spend their money in the way of Allah that they will be punished
a painful penalty....

التوبة آية (118 )

{ وَعَلَى الثَّلاَثَةِ الَّذِينَ خُلِّفُواْ حَتَّى إِذَا ضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الأَرْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ

أَنفُسُهُمْ وَظَنُّواْ أَن لاَّ مَلْجَأَ مِنَ اللَّهِ إِلاَّ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَتُوبُواْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ

الرَّحِيمُ }

Repentance

[9:118 ]

And ( He did forgive also ) the three who did not join ( the Tabuk expedition

whose case was deferred by the Prophet peace be upon him for Allah's

Decision ) till for them the earth , vast as it is, was straitened and their

ownselves werestraitened to them, and they perceived that there is no

fleeing from Allah, and refuge but with Him. Then , He forgave them

(accepted their repentance ), that they might beg for His pardon ( repent

to Him) . Verily, Allah i the One Who forgives and accepts repentance, the

Most Merciful.

This Soral in fact discusses one of the most important battles which muslims had launched and raided against the disbelievers of Guraish

When muslims under the Prophet leadership tended to launch a strike against Guraish disbelievers in Tabook invasion,some muslims warriors
fell behind .Some of them ,when the war was at its highest climax,did not show up .For this reason, after the battle end ,people were looking down at them .They felt that insult .So, Allah has revealed these holy verses asking them to repent and regret for that big sin they had already committed .Such behaviour done by them is considered a sign of hypocrisy. Thus , they have to repent and show their sorrow

قال تعالى:(( أولئك الذين أنعم الله عليهم من ذرية آدم وممن حملنا مع نوح ومن ذرية إبراهيم وإسرائيل وممن هدينا واجتبينا إذا تتلى عليهم آيات الرحمن خروا سجداً وبكياً ((58)). سورة مريم .

أي أن :- أولئك المذكورون هم أنبياء الله ورسله الكرام ,الذين قصصنا عليك يا محمد خبرهم في هذه السورة ((سورة مريم ))وهم عشرة أولهم زكريا وآخرهم إدريس , هم الذين أنعم الله عليهم بشرف النبوة

In this holy verse Allah is addressing His prophet Mohammed (PBUH). As shown bellow
It means that those who have been mentioned throughout these verses of this Holy Sorah are prophets of Allah .We ((Allah))has mentioned their stories and told his prophet Mohammed about them in order to follow their example of being patient .The persons mentioned here are ten beginning with the prophet Zakarea and ending with the Prophet Edrees .They have all been blessed by the honor of prophecy given to them


So, the number of Prophets here is TEN !!!!besides the Prophet Mohammed who was addressed by Allah .The Total is Eleven Prophets mentioned in ONE Holy Verse
