Fighting Fires
Fire is dangerous . It is dangerous because it can start anywhere and very fast . There are many kinds of fires . There are chemical fires , oil , gas and electrical fires . A fireman must be able to deal with all kinds of fires . They do not only put out fires , they also rescue people when there are accidents . They teach children about the dangers of fires .


Accidents In the Homes

A large numbers of accidents happen in the home . The most common accidents are falls , burns , scalds , electrocution suffocation and poisoning .
Small children are very active . They put everything in their mouths. They play with sharp things . They put plastic bags in their heads . Mothers have dangers in the kitchen like burns , cuts , from kitchen utensils and open tins .


The Early Spread of Islam

Islam spread all over the world . First , it was taken outside the Arabian Peninsula in peace . The enemies of Islam tried to stop its spread .
As the Muslims advanced to the north , soldiers of the Roman Empire met them . Muslims captured Damascus then they took Jerusalem . Then they defeated the Romans and the Persian armies . They introduced Islam there .


The Food We Eat
Everyone needs to be healthy and to stay alive . However , we cannot eat only one kind of food . We need a balanced diet . In other , we need food which contains five important substances : proteins ,minerals, carbohydrates ,fats and vitamins .
Energy in is measured in calories . A person need about 40 calories a day for each kilo that he weighs . If you eat more calories than you need , your body stores the extra calories as fat .

What all Pilgrims do on the Hajj (Unit:1)
First, all pilgrims put on special white clothes (Ihram ) .Then, they go to the Holy Mosque. They circle the Ka'abah seven times. After that, they hasten seven times between ALSafa and Al-Marwah. Then they go to Arafat. At sunset , they go to Muzdalifah after that , they go to Mina and spend three days there. At Mina, they sacrifice an animal and have their heads shaved. Then, they circle the Ka'abah seven times again and the Hajj will be over .

Dining Customs in the Kingdom (Unit:2 )
The main meal for most Saudi is lunch. Guests usually arrive on time. Men and woman do not eat together .People sit on carpets on the floor .They usually eat with their hands .People sit around the food in big groups. The food is usually meat and rice called Kabsa. People usually leave soon after the meal ends. They sometimes telephone afterwards to say thank you.

Games ( Unit: 3 )
Hide and seek is a game could be played by a group inside or outside. One of them looks away and start counting to 10. at this time they run and hide from him/her. After he or she finish counting he \she go seeking for them and when he/ or she finds someone they switch turns and start the game again.

Learning More English (Unit:4 )
Many people now want to learn more English .Some people can continue studying English inside Saudi Arabia .Others can go abroad. The advantages of studying English in Saudi Arabia is that it is cheaper than going abroad .You can also work during the day and study English in the evening. The main advantage of studying English abroad is that you can speak and hear English all the time .

Health care in the Kingdom (Unit:5 )
Health care is good in Saudi Arabia .There are many good hospitals. There are many trained doctors and nurses. Saudi Arabia has three kinds of health care .First , there are small clinics and hospitals .Second , there are general hospitals. Third, there are specialized centers. They are in Riyadh , Jeddah and Dammam. Patients are treated with modern equipment .They are hoped to get better as quickly as possible.

Technical Education in the Kingdom (Unit:6 )
The Saudi Arabian government spends billions of riyals on technical education .It operates three main kinds of technical schools. They are industrial , commercial and agricultural institutes. Industrial students learn skills such as car mechanics, car body repair , painting, refrigeration , air conditioning , radio and television . Commercial trainees learn about typing , computer and other skills. A agricultural trainees learn about food production and the use of farm equipment.

Al-Ka'abah, the most sacred place for Muslims, was built by prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Isma'il, peace be upon them .Since then, the Arabs used to perform Al-Hajj to Al-ka`abah . When Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, preached Islam to all mankind, performing Al-Hajj to Al-Ka'abah became the fifth pillar of Islam.
Al-Ka'abah is a 13.8-metre-high, box-shaped building. Its north and south walls are 11 meters long, and its east and west walls are 9.6 metres wide. Al-Ka'abah is built of grey stone and it stands on a marble base which is 23 centimeters high.
