Smog, carbon pollution and oil dependence

In the United States, on-road vehicles contribute about a third of the country’s smog-producing air pollution. The transportation sector is responsible for approximately 27 percent of America’s greenhouse gas emissions.
It is also a leading cause of America’s dependence on oil and consumes about 70 percent of the oil we use in this country. More than half of that is consumed by cars and trucks.
Threat to water and wildlife
Vehicles also contribute to water pollution through the oil and other fluids they leak onto roadways and that wash off into storm drains, rivers and bays.
The nearly 4 million miles of public streets and highways in this country have eaten into wildlife habitat, and where wildlife still exists, those roads create migration impediments and hazards.
One survey found 21 listed threatened species were under greatest threat from road impacts.

Saudi Arabia National Day
National Day in Saudi Arabia is September 23, marking the unification of the country by King Abdul Aziz in 1932. Last year was the first year the date was celebrated as a holiday. In an op-ed marking that event Khaled Almaenna, Arab News Editor-in-Chief wrote a personal reflection on the meaning of the day.
"..In my estimation it should be viewed as an opportunity for introspection as we not only look back at the different stages of nation-building, consolidation and achievement but also look forward to the future and all the concomitant challenges that lie ahead of us. The ability to face these in the coming years will be far tougher and more diverse than we can imagine. However, we have to rise to the occasion and meet them headlong.." He continued, "..As we reflect once again on the National Day we should also be thankful: First to Allah for having blessed us with the Two Holy Mosques of Makkah and Madinah. Then for the decades of security and stability that we have enjoyed. While other nations around the world floundered we kept going on. But as we appreciate the past we also should be concerned about the growing menace of terrorism -- an alien philosophy that has crept into the minds of many of our youngsters. We have to work together to address this issue and eradicate its dangers.."

Wedding Customs in KSA
In Saudi Arabia, when men and women want to get married, they prefer to buy new clothes and throw out old ones. They say this is a new life, so the couple need new clothes.
On the wedding night, the man dresses in white clothes and a long cover called a Bisht, and the woman dresses in white. At the end of the wedding, the man goes with his father and relatives to his marriage room and sits to drink some coffee for a few minutes. Then they leave.
Then the woman comes with her mother and relatives and do the same thing. This removes the stress of the man and the woman, so they are together to start a new life. The morning after the wedding, the man gives a gift to his wife

The Cutting of the Cake
When the bride and groom start walking to the wedding cake, all the wedding guests move out of the way and look in anticipation at the bride and groom. Then the groom holds the bride's hand carefully and together they hold the knife. After they cut a small piece of the cake, the groom holds the piece of cake and the bride eats a bit of it. After that the bride holds that piece of cake and lets the groom bite another bit of the piece. Then the attendants start cheering and clapping for them. The cutting of the cake symbolizes that the couple have started taking care of each other and looking after each other.

In my country (Saudi Arabia), after the wedding ceremony, the religious man says that the bride and the bridegroom are man and wife. Then the bridegroom goes to a party hall--a special hall for weddings--near his house. His friends follow him in their cars and honk their horns and flash their lights, so the people know that there is a wedding party.
Our special thing is the food. At the party, they cook special, traditional food--rice and a whole sheep on a big plate--and they cook 8-15 plates because usually there are a lot of people at the party.
After dinner, the bridegroom goes out from the back door and takes his wife to start their honeymoon, but sometimes--or usually--his friends will play big jokes on him. For example, they may take him before he leaves with his wife to have a picnic in a place he cannot get back from (the desert) for about 2-3 days to make him late for his honeymoon.

Pollutants, the elements of pollution, can be foreign substances or energies, or naturally occurring; when naturally occurring, they are considered contaminants when they exceed natural levels. Pollution is often classed as point source or nonpoint source pollution.
Sometimes the term pollution is extended to include any substance when it occurs at such unnaturally high concentration within a system that it endangers the stability of that system. For example, water is innocuous and essential for life, and yet at very high concentration, it could be considered a pollutant: if a person were to drink an excessive quantity of water, the physical system could be so overburdened that breakdown and even death could result. Another example is the potential of excessive noise to induce imbalance in a person's mental state, resulting in malfunction and psychosis

Cutting down many trees and decreasing the cultivated areas to be replaced by dwelling areas constitute stumbling obstructions that face such nature balance . Air pollution , water pollution and soil pollution result in bad effects that may lead to the spread of infectious diseases every where . It is only man to be blamed for destroying the blessings the nature has endowed humans .
Hence , the individuals and communities should cooperate to put an end to such a fierce enemy against development and progress . There should be strict measures against pollution nature . It is not the responsibility of the Ministry of Environment only but the responsibility of each individual as well .The role of awareness is very significant in this respect . Man should not let the fruits of technology spoil everything . Wise dealing and cautious use may save humanity from fatal results

Well, to be honest, I do. I would like to be a writer. You can laugh but this is the truth.
And it's not because of the money or the fame or to be recognised when I walk down the street; it's not about that. I don't care about that. I want to be a writer because I would love to tell stories to people, things that are inside my head, inside my heart.
When I write, I feel free, I feel extremely good. I abandon my body and I fly, I travel. I travel to the world of my imagination where everything is good. There, in that world, there is no place for mean people or for sadness or for other feelings that are bad for us. Everything is so perfect that we really want to live there.
I think the reason why there are so many people who don't like writing is because they don't know how to do it.
When it turns on we can't let it turn off. We have to grab it and work on it. Once we grabbed the idea, other ideas will show up and it becomes easy to write a text or even a book. I believe that's the secret!
And I'll try to do this everytime I want to write. But I don't believe that I could be a writer in the future. It's very hard to write books with quality

King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz
His Royal Majesty King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud (born 1924) [1] became the King of Saudi Arabia on August 1, 2005. Formerly known as Crown Prince Abdullah, he succeeded the throne following the death of his half-brother, King Fahd. He had previously acted as de facto regent and thus ruler of Saudi Arabia since 1995 when King Fahd was incapacitated by a major stroke. He was formally enthroned on August 3, 2005, but he inherited the title of King immediately after the death of his half-brother. [2]One of his sons, Prince Mutaib serves as a deputy commander in the Saudi National Guard.
Abdullah also serves as Prime Minister and Commander of the Saudi National Guard. He is Chairman of the Supreme Economic Council, Vice-President of the High Council for Petroleum and Minerals, President of the King Abdulaziz Centre for National Dialogue, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Civil Service and a Member of the Military Service Council. Abdullah is one of 37 sons of King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Saud, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia.
Early life
Abdullah was born in Riyadh to Ibn Saud's eighth wife, Fahda bint Asi Al Shuraim of the Abde section of the Shammar tribe. She had earlier been married to the 10th Rashidi amir, Saud, who was killed in 1920. Abdullah received his early education in the Royal Court at the Princes' School from religious authorities and intellectuals. His first official post was as Mayor of Mecca. He was given the position of Commander of the Saudi Arabian National Guard in August 1963, the position of Second Deputy Prime Minister in March 1975 and the position of First Deputy Prime Minister in June 1982. Abdullah has had over thirty wives during his lifetime, among them Tardi Al-Jorba, Hessa Al Shaalan, Aida, Anud, Malika, and al-Jauhara. He has at least fifteen sons and twenty daughters.
Religion
King Abdullah is a devout Muslim and follows the Salafi understanding of Islam which is a strict interpretation of the religion based on the teachings of the first three generations of Muslims, and is said to have meetings with leaders of Saudi Arabia's religious establishment on a weekly basis to garner advice and guidance.
Governance and foreign policy
In recent years the image of moderation cultivated by Abdullah has been compromised, as Saudi Arabian schools are alleged to teach anti-Semitism and Saudi Arabia's Royal Family funds madrassas around the world. Saudi Arabia was also a major backer of the Taliban in Afghanistan. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates withdrew recognition of the Taliban government.
Peace Process
In 2002, Abdullah floated the so-called Arab Peace Initiative, what many considered at the time to be an opening salvo in a Saudi attempt to make peace with Israel. The plan called for Israel to cede almost the entirety of the West Bank and Gaza Strip to the Palestinian Authority and to recognize the PA's sovereignty, with the Authority's capital in East Jerusalem. In exchange, Abdullah offered unprecedented concessions, including the ending of the Arab-Israeli conflict, a peace treaty with Israel, recognition of the state of Israel (despite the 1947 UN Partition Plan approved by the UN General Assembly), and the establishment of "normal relations" between Arab states and Israel.
The plan was dropped after criticism from both Arab states and Israel.
Recently, Abdullah has visited Egypt, Syria and Jordan in what the Saudi Arabian government calls "an attempt to restart the stalled Middle East peace process and promote Arab unity and cooperation."
War on Terrorism
Since May 12, 2003, Saudi Arabia faced crucial terrorist attacks . King Abdullah vowed to crack down on the Insurgency in Saudi Arabia and to fight terrorist ideologies within the country.
the second anniversary of the September 11 attack on the United States, the then-prince wrote a letter to U.S. President George W. Bush, which ended with:
"God Almighty, in His wisdom, tests the faithful by allowing such calamities to happen. But He, in His mercy, also provides us with the will and determination, generated by faith, to enable us to transform such tragedies into great achievements, and crises that seem debilitating are transformed into opportunities for the advancement of humanity. I only hope that, with your cooperation and leadership, a new world will emerge out of the rubble of the World Trade Center: a world that is blessed by the virtues of freedom, peace, prosperity and harmony."
Philanthropy
Abdullah paid for the surgery of a pair of Polish conjoined twins which took place at the King Abd al-Aziz Medical City in Riyadh on 3rd January 2005. He had heard about the twins from a doctor who found the information about the twins on the Internet. 14-month-old Daria and Olga Kołacz were successfully separated after the surgery which took 15 hours.
Abdullah has established two libraries, one in Riyadh (the King Abdulaziz Library) and another in Casablanca, Morocco.
Relationship with the United States
In October 1976, as Abdullah was being groomed for greater responsibility in Riyadh, he was sent to the United States to meet with then-President Gerald Ford. He again travelled to the United States in October 1987, meeting then-Vice President George H. W. Bush. In September of 1998, Abdullah made a state visit to the United States to meet in Washington, DC with then-President Bill Clinton. He returned again in September
of 2000 to attend millennium celebrations at the United Nations in New York, New York.
Since then Abdullah has visited America many times, and there are reports that the Bush family, including President George W. Bush, consider Abdullah to be a great friend . both of America and the Bush family
