معي أحمل قلبك.. أحمله في قلبي

أبدا لا أخلوا منه..أينما أذهب تذهبين يا عزيزتي

مهما أفعل أنا وليس سواي تفعلينه أنت يا حبيبتي

لا أخشى قدرا..فأنت قدري يا حلوتي

لا أريد عالما ..أنت الجميلة ..عالمي يا وفيتي

كل ما تضمنه قمر من معنى دوما هو أنت

وكل ما ستغني له شمس دوما هو أنت

هو ذا أعمق سر لا يعرفه أحد

هو ذا جذر الجذر وبرعم البرعم

وسماء سماء شجرة اسمها الحياة، تنمو

أعلى مما تطمح الروح إليه أو مما يستطيع العقل إخفاءه

How large is life, how much can we grasp, how does it grow? Why is life so important to us? In 'I carry your heart with me,' E.E. Cummings tries to answer those questions by the use of Figurative Language; similes and metaphors, to


, show that life is everything to people and it keeps growing everyday. As a result we can't ever grasp the concept, ever.

Cummings starts with 'I carry your heart with me,' (line 1) this is an ambiguous metaphor. It can mean remembering a lost lover or the heart life gave him, as in line 3 'I am never without it.'

In the next part of the poem the speaker says 'anywhere I go you go my dear.' (line 4) The speaker's diction here is very important, he uses the words 'my dear,' which implies that whoever or whatever is with him is important; life for example. In the next 2 lines the speaker says 'and whatever is done by only me is your doing, darling.' Now I think this is a way of saying thank you to life, since it gave him ability to do things, he would be lost without it. He also uses the words 'my darling' which implies importance like 'my dear.'
Next, the speaker says 'I fear no fate for you are my fate, my sweet,' (lines 7/8) the speaker uses the words fate, predetermined events, and fear, a feeling of anxiety; this could mean he is not afraid of death because, after all, that's part of life. In the lines after these the speaker states 'I want no world for you are my world my true,' (lines 9/10) it could very well mean that there is no other world for him unless there is life.
After that the speaker says 'and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you.' (lines 11/12) The speaker is trying to say that life is everything it makes the world go around in a way. It's everything good in the world.

In the last part of the poem he talks of a secret nobody knows and states 'here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life, which grows higher than the soul can hope or the mind hide and here is the wonder that keeps the stars apart.' (lines 14-17) I think this implies that life grows so much no one could ever get the concept of it; no one could ever keep up with it, ever. At the very end of the poem he restates 'I carry your heart, I carry it in my heart,' this is life
