Betrayal in Hamlet

Betrayal is not something concrete only , but it is also something abstract that touch us from inside . When we have main principles in our life that all of us recognize and never break its words except one of us , then this one is considered betrayer . SO , if you were in attach with someone , but you did not respect what is carried on this attachment ,then you are betrayer . If you were living under the shadow of your homeland , but you were not able to give all of your life to save it from anything ,then you are betrayer . If you were speaking in the words of religion ,but you did not apply this sacred words , then you are betrayer . If you were trusted by someone ,but you did the opposite for what was excepted , then you are betrayer . If you were listener to my words now and you suggest " yes . . yes" but you actually represents all what I mentioned , then you are betrayer , because you are not truthful with yourself so you won't be truthful with anything else  .

NOW a day , some of us direct the concept of betrayal just for one side , betrayal in love relationship , disregarding that this concept is extended to many aspects whether it is concrete or abstract .

If we want to express the pain of who is betrayed , we do not need to serve many words because Hamlet was the one who represented its real pain . He prefer to lose his lover not to be betrayed ""maybe "" but to discover the truth ""sure"" .He did not convince the ghost's words and he never want to convince because it was something very difficult upon his heart and upon his consciousness . So , he started to look for the truth by making himself as a mad person losing his lover . He bared to harm her because he was the most harm and we all can feel his feeling and never blame him .Also , his soliloquy was so expressed concerning the feeling of who was betrayed .

First ; the betrayal of king Claudius:
The betrayal in Hamlet was represented in different concepts of our life . First , it was portrayed in the one who loosed his sense of human to be dared killing the saintliness of brotherhood before killing his brother himself . That was acted by the role of Claudius who kill his brother , the so beloved king Hamlet , in very brutal way by pouring the poison in his ear . He was also the one who stool the concept of honesty and honor by marrying to his brother's wife which was unaccepted in the religion . So , he also betrayed the sacredness of religion . Moreover , he was the one who did not repair his sin and never feel it because he supposed as a conscious person to expect and accept any reaction from those whom were harmed by him very much . So, instead of this , he still insisted to build his evilness upon all human including himself while he must be merciful at least with himself . So that , he sent Hamlet first to England to be killed by two spies of him ,but when he knew that he was not killed by them , he planned to make swordplay between Hamlet and Lariats in order to have the chance to poison the sword that would be used later by Lariats .In this case , he betrayed his consciousness . Also, he betrayed his homeland by his hypocritical words in his well known speech that was introduced in his succession to make all people believed and trusted him .Finally, we can say that Claudius is a man masked in betrayal and murder because What could be worse than killing your brother ? and marrying his wife just after his death !!

Second ; the betrayal of mother ;

She was the one who loosed the sense of love and faithfulness because from the beginning and before the death of her husband she had a shameful relationship with her husband's brother that made her later forgetting the pain of her beloved husband – as it comes in our mind – easily. So, she did not betray her husband only , but she also betrayed the sacredness of religion because her relationship with her husband's brother before his death and her marriage after his death was not allowed in religion at all . So ,she considered adulterer .Moreover , she was not the good example for motherhood because she betrayed its meaning and its expressed feeling . She did not appreciate her only son's attitude after losing his beloved father to increase his pain by losing her also . She was not near him nor she allowed him to be near her as a man who must take the role of his father now , but she was manipulating in front of his eyes disregarding his manhood and his need to her existence .
