The Holy Mosque was expanded تمت توسعته eight times .Under the Saudi rule: The Holy mosque was expanded وُسّع two times . مرتين In The Second Saudi Expansion of the Holy Mosque A large annex ملحق was built onto the western side الجانب الغربيof the mosque . the total area is about 361,000 square metres . It can accommodate 730,000 worshippers . It has nine minarets . Each minaret is 89 metres high . there are 7 escalators and 11 fixed staircases .
