Wives' patience
Their marriage had lasted for sixty years. They lived together in rare closeness. They were always honest to each other . They had mutual respect that no one of them had ever tried to intrude the other's own privacy and confidentiality. They never had secrets between each other , but the wife put a box on her closet and asked her husband not to even think about opening it . The husband respected her request and never tried or thought of opening the box , and he didn't even ask her what was hidden in it. Their life went on in peace and tranquility without even a single shout or trouble. With time, the wife's health began to deteriorate because of old age. Her husband tried to relieve her from the pain by getting her to doctors and specialists. Unfortunately, doctors told the poor husband that there would be only a few days for her to live. The husband was in real sadness because he knew for a fact that she would die soon. He spent the few days next to her that he never left her alone even for a moment. With his constant stay with her, the husband's eyes were staring fixedly at the box. The wife smiled innocently provoking her husband to bring the box . The husband responded to her request and brought the box that was brown with age and gave it to his wife who said : You can open it now.
The husband opened the box with shivering hands and was in shock because there were only two dolls made of cotton threads , needles, threads and one hundred thousand ryials in the bottom of the box. When the husband couldn't understand what the things he found in the box for, he didn't hesitate to ask his wife for an answer. The wife answered him and said : before you married me, my mother had given me a priceless piece of advice, she told me that the secret of successful marriages lies in keeping away from arguments with your husband that make him get angry. My mother told me that if I get angry, I should get rid of my anger by weaving a doll and I'll then find out that the needles that I stick in the dolls I weave have cooled me down. The husband was about to cry holding his wife's hands so tight and said : there are only two dolls , does that mean I have gotten you upset twice all the sixty years we've spent together and what is the secret of the hundred thousand ryials although you didn't have any source of income? The wife smiled in a sad way and said : I've collected this amount of money by selling the dolls that I can't even remember how many I have woven.
