hi
Ms . Snow
=)
here a short paragraph I just extracted from some other paragraphs ^^"
Hope you'll find it helpful..
.
usually in the muslim world people greet each other by saying alsalaamu alaikum
(it means peace be upon you). It's a A customary greeting .
marhaba is a very popular word in the arab world
it means hello,,,
good morning = sabah alkhair
good evening = masa elkhair
well, shaking hands is very important part of greetings in the arab culture,, Remember that handshaking with your right-hand is a compulsory form of greeting except.
On a point of note women are not expected to shake hands
,, when a visitor enters the room, all people should stand up to greet them, some people get so offended and they will not extend their hands for shaking unless the seated stand up
who enters the room might say marhaba, salaamu alaikum, sabah elkhair or masa elkhair, and the receiver will reply the same and add saying ahlan wasahlan which means you are welcom. the literary meaning of ahlan is derived from the word ahel which means family, and sahlan derived from sahel that is the place or the land,,, so it means when you come to our land you become part of the family and belong to the land,,,,,
Though it sound obvious, never greet anyone who is praying as they will not answer back.
